Jim Flood

Position: Owner, Physical Therapist, MSPT

Jim has been in clinical practice in San Diego over 25 years. With a Master’s degree in Physical Therapy from USC and a BA in Biology from Linfield College, he and his wife, Doris has been co-owners of Personally Fit since 2001. Jim’s vision was to create a unique facility to help patients improve the quality of their lives. Through the integration of physical therapy and fitness, Jim could relieve pain and improve function in the short term but also provide a means for his patients to maintain and improve for the long term. Not only does Jim provide physical therapy, he also writes articles for a variety of publications and has created many resources to help his patients including several DVD programs including “How to have a Healthy Back” and “The Ten Exercises Every Senior Must Do.”

Jim has expertise in a wide variety of manual therapy and soft tissue techniques including massage, strain-counterstrain, and active release as well as spinal and peripheral joint mobilization. He treats patients with special medical needs including arthritis, diabetes, scoliosis, and obesity. Jim also evaluates and casts for custom orthotics.

Jim enjoys fitness, promoting healthy lifestyles, and preventing injuries. He enjoys tennis, spending time with his two sons, wife and friends. He enjoys traveling and is an avid participant and spectator in a wide variety of sporting activities.

Doris Flood

Doris Flood

Position: Owner, Physical Therapist, MSPT

Doris has been in clinical practice in San Diego for over 25 years. Doris earned her Master’s degree in Physical Therapy from USC. She and her husband, Jim Flood, have been co-owners of Personally Fit since 2001. Doris enjoys interacting with her patients and is known for her calm and caring approach to rehabilitation. Doris has an extensive background in neurological rehab as well as orthopedics. Doris is LSVT, PWR! (Parkinson Wellness Recovery), and RSB (Rock Steady Boxing) certified. She has been the impetus and creator of the Parkinson’s Class offered in our fitness center. Doris emphasizes patient independence and encourages her patients to be active participants in their recovery.

Doris has expertise in a wide variety of manual, soft tissue and neurological therapy. She is versed in post stroke rehab, Parkinson’s and multiple sclerosis (MS). Doris also treats women’s health issues including breast cancer recovery.

Doris enjoys spending time with her children, family, and friends. She enjoys yoga, walking and skiing. She loves to knit and read for relaxation.

Charmaine Borja

Charmaine Borja

Position: Physical Therapist, DPT

Charmaine earned her Bachelor of Science in Kinesiology from San Diego State University and earned her Doctorate of Physical Therapy from the University of St. Augustine located in San Marcos, California. She has additional training in Manual Therapy, earning her Manual Therapy Certification from the University of St. Augustine. 

Charmaine has a wide range of clinical experience in outpatient orthopedics, geriatrics, and pediatrics that she has acquired through her traveling experiences as a Physical Therapist.

Charmaine enjoys hiking, paddle boarding, and cooking. She also enjoys spending time with her family, traveling, and meeting new people.

Dave Blanchard

Dave Blanchard

Position: Physical Therapist, MPT

Dave earned his Master’s degree in physical therapy from Samuel Merritt College in Northern California and his Bachelor’s of science from UC Davis. He has completed hours of postgraduate education in biomechanics and evaluation and treatment of lower back, pelvic and spinal injury. He is a certified strength and conditioning specialist through the NSCA.

Dave has over 18 years of clinical experience and expertise in outpatient, orthopedics, sports related injuries and industrial medicine. He has extensive, specialized training in the rehabilitation of postoperative knee and shoulder injuries, foot and ankle injuries and orthotic fabrication. Dave is also involved on our Parkinson’s Programs and is LSVT certified.

He has led classes in aquatic therapy, is Medicare Certified and highly trained in the treatment of geriatric specific injuries including balance dysfunctions. He has worked closely with collegiate and high school athletes and is a certified Pilates instructor Dave enjoys spending time with his family, mountain biking, hiking and snowboarding.


Madison Goldin

Position: Physical Therapist, DPT

Madison earned her Doctorate of Physical Therapy from San Diego State University in May 2015. She is now an alumni of the first graduating class for the DPT program at SDSU. While at SDSU, she took part in a research study on finding normative data for a Balance Tracking System that can be used as a balance assessment in the future for concussions, orthopedic, and neurological conditions. Madison earned her Bachelor of Science in Exercise Science with a minor in Psychology from Indiana University in Bloomington, IN.

Madison has clinical experience in the treatment of a diverse range of patients, including orthopedic, neurological, and vestibular therapy. She focuses on providing high quality, patient-centered care that integrates the whole body and provides care beyond a patient’s impairment. During her Doctoral program, Madison completed an internship here at Personally Fit under the direction of Doris Flood, MS PT, which solidified her interest in this clinical setting.

Carrie Maruna

Carrie Maruna, PTA

Position: Physical Therapy Assistant, Personal Trainer

Carrie Maruna graduated in 1989 from San Diego State University with a Bachelors degree in Athletic Training. After completing her 2 year athletic training internship at University of San Diego, she began her career as the Athletic Trainer at University High School here in San Diego. She obtained her Physical Therapist Assistant license in 1992. After starting a family with husband E. Jay she began her career in outpatient orthopedic clinics. She has had the pleasure of working with Jim Flood and Cathie Gillespie for over 20 years. She enjoys developing exercise programs tailored to the specific needs of individual clients and recently has begun teaching classes at the gym, as well as personal training.

In her spare time, she enjoys hiking the trails around her home in Ramona with her dog, gardening, and taking Pilates classes. But her hardest and best job has to be as mom to her kids, Brice, Connor and Aedan.

MeganM oynihan

Megan Moynihan

Position: Physical Therapist Assistant

Megan earned her Bachelor of Science in Kinesiology with an emphasis in Exercise Science and a Minor in Business Administration with an emphasis in Wine Business from Sonoma State University, CA in 2011. Megan completed her Physical Therapy Assistant degree in San Diego at Concorde Career College in 2016. Through her clinical rotations; she has experience in orthopedic, neurological, post-surgical, and pelvic floor physical therapy. She enjoys challenging patients and helping them achieve their personal fitness goals.

In her free time, Megan enjoys playing tennis, going to the beach, and keeping up to date on the latest and greatest of the wine industry.
